Uoksas is a family restaurant situated in the second biggest Lithuanian city Kaunas. It educates the tastes of diners not only locally. Foreigners also often visit the restaurant and discover it according to recommendations just like the guests from other Lithuanian cities and towns.

This restaurant was born very slowly, when Odeta and Artūras have collected a sufficient amount of knowledge. Uoksas is not only a business or short-term project. It is a way of life, a possibility of self-realisation or even a playground. They and their team let their freak flags fly and often have unexpected, never-tried tastes as a result.

LUNCH SPECIALS.


Every morning, the chef of Uoksas “goes hunting” for the freshest products, and lunch specials is the result of improvisations with the “catch” of the day. Besides, lunch of the day at Uoksas is called differently – is it “catch of the day”. It consists of a starter (EUR 3.5), soup (EUR 2.5), a hot dish (EUR 5) and a dessert (EUR 2.5).

DINNER.

Menu of the evening is short and changes several times a season given the products of nature. This place is closely related to nature and seasons in Odeta and Artūras’ vision.

Thus kitchen mainly uses seasonal products purchased from local cultivators and producers. Just like many other high class restaurants, this restaurant tries to avoid any frozen ingredients but does not refuse them at all. Sometimes, local products are frozen for the cold season. In principle, the ideas of Uoksas are very close to the seasonal Lithuanian restaurant in Vilnius Sweet Root.

Food is presented in a modern, minimalistic and creative manner in Uoksas. In general, the kitchen of the restaurant could be called the creative laboratory of Naideno (hosts of the restaurant). Chef Artūras likes experimenting with textures, layers, intensity of tastes using the latest technology.

TASTING DINNER.

Uoksas offers tasting dinners which take several hours and with advance booking only. Such dinner costs EUR 25 per person. A dinner consists of 6 courses: two starters, two hot dishes and two desserts. In principle, a guest tries almost all menu of the restaurant, but in smaller rations and for an attractive price. In Kaunas, it is one of the best tasting dinners.

LATE BREAKFAST.

Late breakfast takes place on Sundays, except for the summer season. The morning menu on Sundays is various: starting with Eggs Benedict and English breakfast and finishing with a burger and American pancakes. Sunday breakfast starts with wonderful mimosas from 12 p.m. and can be served until 6 p.m.

WINE CARD.

Wine card in Uoksas changes continuously subject to the dishes of the season. It is not abundant but has good, rare wines. Owners of the restaurant continuously consult representatives of the field to have the best combination.

INTERESTNG.

The name of the restaurant Uoksas means an opening made by birds in a tree in which this type of bird settle (woodpeckers, rollers, some owls, etc.). One step closer to nature.
